Custom Applications
Custom Application's mission is to provide to the University of Tennessee system software and technical solutions when other solutions are not commercially available, are commercially available at a prohibitive cost, or are commercially available but fail to meet UT’s requirements; and to provide business analysis with regard to technical solutions which may benefit the university.
The Custom Applications group has a variety of skills and tools and has developed and deployed software on the various platforms running at the University of Tennessee.
DEVELOPMENT PLATFORMS
These are the different development environments we use to provide a solution that works for you.
COLDFUSION
ColdFusion was originally designed to make it easier to connect simple HTML pages to a database. By version 2 (1996), it became a full platform that included an IDE in addition to a full scripting language. ColdFusion is a rapid development platform for building modern web applications. ColdFusion is designed to be expressive and powerful. The expressive characteristic allows you to perform programming tasks at a higher level than most other languages. The powerful characteristic gives you integration with functionality important to web applications like database access, MS Exchange access, PDF form creation and more.
WEB DEVELOPMENT
Web development is a broad term for the work involved in developing a web site for the Internet (World Wide Web) or an intranet (a private network). Web development can range from developing the simplest static single page of plain text to the most complex web-based internet applications (or just 'web apps') electronic businesses, and social network services. A more comprehensive list of tasks to which web development commonly refers, may include web engineering, web design, web content development, client liaison, client-side/server-side scripting, web server and network security configuration, and e-commerce development.
ORACLE APPLICATION EXPRESS
APEX can be used to build complex web applications which can be used in most modern web browsers. The APEX development environment is also browser-based. Oracle Application Express (Oracle APEX), is the low code web application development tool for the Oracle database.
QUESTIONPRO
QuestionPro, a powerful online survey research tool. Using QuestionPro, you can design simple to complex surveys in a web browser, distribute the survey, run frequencies as it continues to collect data and then download the data. For in depth analysis, you can export your data to an SPSS, CSV, or Excel file.
SHAREPOINT
SharePoint is a web-based collaborative platform that integrates with Microsoft Office. It offers additional features and capabilities, such as Enterprise Content Management, business intelligence, enterprise search, personal sites, Newsfeed, workflows, forms and more.
